I Needed Him, D.F.

I was always a headstrong, independent child. I hated to be dependent on anyone. Yet, one day, I was introduced to a person that I realized I cannot live without. This wonderful person is Christ! Now He lives in me, always loving me, comforting me, and even making His home in me.

Toward the end of my junior high years, I contacted the local church. Naturally, I was resistant to the idea that God is real. But gradually, through the Christians' care and testimonies, I found myself believing and calling on the Lord's name. My faith in God was not something of my own effort, but a spontaneous reaction to hearing how much the Lord loves us. Even now, I thank Him everyday for His mercy on me.

After being saved and baptized, I wanted to know God in a more intimate way. I not only began to read the Bible, but also some books by Witness Lee and Watchman Nee to help me understand the Bible. I found that these books made clear the divine truths contained in the Bible. I was brought closer to Christ not just in knowledge of Him but also in experience. I began to know Christ in me. I love Him, talk to Him and sense His presence in a real way. He is not just a historical figure, but a real, living Person always in me.
